Shrewsbury homes for sale attract homebuyers in both Pennsylvania and Maryland. Shrewsbury is a borough in southern York County, with easy access to Interstate 83 and Maryland. The Shrewsbury Historic District is on the National Registry of Historic Places. Some of the buildings in the historic district are log dwellings built before 1800. Early settlers were mostly German, and the town was originally called Strassburg. By 1830, there were enough English settlers to make Shrewsbury the official name. The town incorporated in 1834. Shrewsbury is served by the Southern York School District, and elementary students attend Shrewsbury Elementary School in Shrewsbury.
