Red Lion always has lots of homes for sale. We can help you find the home that’s right for you. Red Lion is a large suburban borough in southeastern York County. Settled in 1852, Red Lion was named after one of the first pubs in town, the Red Lion Tavern. Before and even during the Civil War, several houses in the area were used as safe houses in the Underground Railroad. Red Lion was also once known for its cigar manufacturing, producing millions of cigars a month. To commemorate that history, on New Year’s Eve, the town raises a giant cigar instead of dropping a ball. Red Lion also had a thriving furniture industry, which today has shifted mostly to kitchen cabinet production. Red Lion has its own school district, Red Lion Area School District, so students attend elementary through high school in town.
