West Shore is a unique district in the respect that it serves students in northern York County and in eastern Cumberland County in approximately a 78 sq mile area. The district was formed in 1966 when one York County district merged with four small Cumberland County districts. Today, even though 80% of the district's land resides in York County, 42% of the student population lives in Cumberland County. The district operates eight Elementary schools, three Middle schools, and Cedar Cliff and Red Land High Schools for approximately 8,000 students. Cedar Cliff High School is located in Camp Hill and is home to the Colts. Red Land High School is home to the Patriots in Lewisberry. Both high schools offer students the opportunity to get a head start on college by participating in the Dual Enrollment program. This is a state program to earn college credits at a reduced rate while at the same time meeting graduation requirements For further details about this unique district visit their webpage.
