Looking for homes in Manchester? We can help find your dream home. Manchester is a borough in the eastern part of Manchester Township, in northeastern York County. Originally named Liverpool, the town was settled in 1814, and incorporated in 1869, with the name change coming after the founding fathers became aware that the community’s name of Liverpool was the same as another Pennsylvania town. During the Gettysburg Campaign of the Civil War, Liverpool’s businesses were raided by the 17th Virginia Cavalry. Manchester hosts an annual Halloween parade, and holds other community events at Manchester Community Park on Liverpool street. Manchester students are served by the Northeastern School District, and attend elementary, intermediate and high school in Manchester.
