Hanover Public is a small urban district, approximately 4 sq miles. The student population sits just below 1700 students in 5 schools. The school mascot is the Nighthawks! The small population allows for excellent benefits such as low student teacher ratios, which is very beneficial especially in the elementary years. Clearview Elementary, Hanover Street Elementary, and Washington Elementary service students K-4th grade. The schools reported a student population of 228, 257 and 200 respectively in 2010. The student teacher ratio for Washington Elementary was 14:1 in 2010. Hanover Middle School (5th-8th) has a student teacher ratio of 12:1, with approximately 500 students. Hanover High School has participated in the state funded program Science in Motion.
