East Prospect is a small rural borough on the west bank of the Susquehanna River in Lower Windsor Township. East Prospect students are served by the Eastern York School District. Students attend Canadochly Elementary School. East Prospect almost burned to the ground on July 4, 1900, after experiencing a major fire that did $50,000 in damage, which was quite a lot of money in those days. Since there was no fire company at that time, residents banded together to form bucket brigades and pump water from wells and cisterns to put out the fire. A thunderstorm helped put out the fire and cool the remaining embers.
